FT on the worlds Top 20 Banks
In Fareed Zakaria’s wonderfully written book, “The Post American World“, one of the concepts that he describes as he looks around the world is what he calls “The Rise of the Rest”. The above chart demonstrates this concept nicely. It shows how the US banking sector dominated half of the top 20 banks up through 2005. But, since then we’ve seen 5 of the biggest banks are now Chinese, and 6 are from other countries, which are Brazil, Australia, and Canada.
The source data for the above chart comes from this well crafted visual model, created by the Financial Times.
